The 2013 Hennessey Venom GT Spyderwhich American Idol judge and Aerosmith star, Steven Tyler had ordered last month for a custom built from Hennessey Performance last month, is finally ready to roll. The Hennessey team was recently seen dyno testing the car in Sealy, Texas. The car touted to be $1.1 million is built off a modified Lotus Elise/Exige chassis and runs on a General Motors 6.2 liter twin-turbocharged sequential Multi-Port Electronic Fuel Injection V8 engine. The top speed for the car is 260 mph and it will sprint from 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, and 0-200 in 15.3 seconds.
The Hennessey Venom GT Spyder jumps to a 1,155 lb of torque when set at 1,200 horsepower and it has additional two setting options of 800 hp and 1,000 hp. The car weighs about 2,685 lbs and has a carbon fiber composite body.
It must have ripped the hearts of a million Maybach lovers when they saw Jay-Z and Kanye West take a beautiful 2004 Maybach 57 and tear it apart for the Grammy Award winning song ‘Otis’ in 2011. The butchered and mangled Maybach 57 was sailing in the expected price range of $100,000 and $150,000 at an auction to benefit Save the Children Foundation. But unfortunately, the sedan fetched only a meager $60,000 at the New York Contemporary Art Evening auction held by Phillips de Pury & Co.
It’s a fine car, but I guess folks are a tad intimidated to be spotted driving a model from 2004. You know what they say, what goes around comes around. You project it to be worthless in the video and it takes a real life cue from there to fetch you nothing. It’s alright if you think my school of thought is too rigid!4 Comments
